Sell your action sports photos

Sell your action sports photos

Postby Phil@wotashot on Tue Jul 24, 2007 9:21 pm

Hi to all the forum members. We'd like to give you a quick run-down of our new website that might be of interest.

Launched recently, http://www.wotashot.com has created a link between photographers and action sports enthusiasts, so that photographers can display and sell their images online, and the person captured in the action can search and buy their photo from the site. As well as assisting individual photographers to sell their photos, WotaSHOT.com also enables action sports businesses and not-for-profit organisations, such as clubs, schools and charities, to raise money for their organisation through the sale of their sports photos.

What are we about?
WotaSHOT.com is Australian owned and run, and is focused on building a global action sports community. Whilst our initial focus is on the surfing community, we are also keen to display and sell photos of any action sports out there, including kiteboarding, skateboarding, motor sports, snowsports, mountain biking…whatever gets people interested. This means when the surf’s flat, you can head to your nearest bowl/track/park/beach/etc and get some shots of other sporting enthusiasts who will be just as keen to find photos of themselves in the action.

How much does it cost?
We offer two different services. The first is free, and offers 100Mb storage space, your own profile page and marketing materials which are personalised for you. These can be used to promote your pictures to potential customers and contain a link directing them to your photos.
We also have a premium member option for $10 (Aus) per month, which offers 500Mb digital storage space, greater profile opportunities within WotaSHOT.com and allows you access to other marketing materials such as banners, t-shirts etc.

How much do I earn?
As a photographer, you nominate the price of each of your shots, leaving you completely in control of what you display and how much you charge. For each digital image sold, you are paid 75% of the price you set.
Customers can also purchase images as printed products, such as print enlargements, printed canvas, printed T-shirts, printed mugs etc. To ensure an uncomplicated customer experience, the price of these products is fixed. As such, the fee paid to the photographer is also a fixed amount.
Funds are paid monthly into your PayPal account.

Why use WotaSHOT.com?
Why not? Whether you have your own site or are linked to another site, joining WotaSHOT.com provides another way of gaining great exposure to the action sports community. We don’t require any exclusivity arrangements, and the more coverage you have the greater the chances of selling your images.
Try the free option, if you like it and need more storage space it’s a very simple procedure to upgrade to the Premium package.

Who owns the image?
Images are sold on a Personal and Private Use Only basis, and the rights for the image remain with the photographer. This means that the purchaser can only use the downloaded image for personal use, not promotional/advertising/etc.

Sounds good, where do I sign?
For more information or to join, head to http://www.wotashot.com
If you have any questions, feel free to post them on this thread or get in touch via the “Contact Us” link on the website.

Thanks for your time and thanks to Mark for allowing us the space on the forum.

Cheers,
Phil and the team @ WotaSHOT.com

On your site here is says "The best part is that you name the price of your photos and there is no commission charged so you receive 100% of your sale price!"
Which is kinda in contrast to "For each digital image sold, you are paid 75% of the price you set," no? Or am I just reading that wrong.

I was at the beach and some guy was just walking up to all the photogs and handing out Wotashot flyers and stickers. Got me to go to the website. Good marketing!

Hi Guys

Yes we have changed WotaSHOT.com and the site is now completely Commission Free, so the 75% payment mentioned above is now 100%. We have placed a new thread explaining the changes.

Hope you guys got some good shots at Bells.
